The short version

Salli Ala Muhammad has no server, no account system, and no analytics. It collects nothing about you, transmits nothing anywhere, and stores only your own settings on your own device. Uninstalling the app erases everything.

Who we are

Salli Ala Muhammad (صلِّ على محمد ﷺ) is a mobile application published by Kortobaa. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with information, and applies to the Android and iOS versions of the app and to this website.

You can reach us at any time at the address in the Contact section below.

What we collect

Nothing. The app has no backend server, so there is no system capable of receiving data from your phone. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, location, device identifiers, advertising ID, IP address, usage statistics, or crash reports.

The app does not integrate any analytics SDK, advertising network, attribution service, or third-party tracker of any kind.

What is stored on your device

So the app can remember your choices, the following are written to your device's local application storage (SharedPreferences on Android, and a shared App Group container on iOS so the home-screen widget can read your language):

• Your chosen interface language — Arabic or English.

• Your reminder display speed — fast, medium, or slow.

• Whether the hourly reminder timer is switched on.

• Whether the display-over-other-apps permission has been granted, cached so the settings screen does not flicker on launch.

• Whether you have switched reminders to a reduced frequency.

• If you have paused reminders: when the pause ends, and the pause length you selected.

• The bundled list of salawat phrases, copied into local storage so the Android reminder component can read it.

This data never leaves your device. It is not backed up to us, not synced, and not readable by us or by anyone else. It is subject to the normal device backup behaviour of Android and iOS, which is governed by Google's and Apple's own policies and your device settings.

Network access

The app makes no network requests. The Android internet permission appears in the manifest because the application framework declares it by default, but the app contains no code that contacts any server. You can confirm this yourself by using the app with your phone in airplane mode — every feature continues to work.

The screen overlay and background operation

On Android the reminder is drawn on top of your screen using the display-over-other-apps permission. It only draws. It does not read, record, screenshot, or interact with whatever is underneath it, and it has no way to do so.

To deliver reminders reliably, the app keeps a background listener running and uses the standard Android scheduling mechanisms — a foreground service, AlarmManager, and WorkManager — so that it survives a reboot, a force stop, and being swiped away, and so it can start during Direct Boot before the phone is first unlocked.

None of this observes you. We do not monitor, track, or record your screen, the apps you open, or your usage habits at any point, in the foreground or the background. The listener reacts to one system signal — that the device has been unlocked — and nothing more.

Notifications

On Android, a low-priority notification is displayed while the reminder service runs. Android requires this for any foreground service; it is not a marketing message and it cannot be used to send you anything.

On iOS, the app schedules local notifications on your device to deliver hourly reminders. Local notifications are created and delivered entirely by your phone. We do not operate a push server and cannot send you a notification.

We will never send you promotional or marketing messages, because we have no mechanism to do so.

Religious data and GDPR

Under Article 9 of the UK and EU General Data Protection Regulation, information revealing religious belief is a special category of personal data deserving heightened protection. Installing an app of this kind can itself imply a religious belief.

We take that seriously. Our answer is architectural rather than contractual: because the app has no server and transmits nothing, we never come into possession of any personal data about you, special-category or otherwise. There is no processing for us to justify, no profile to build, and no record for anyone to request from us.

Your rights

Data protection law gives you rights to access, correct, delete, and port your personal data, and to object to its processing. These rights are directed at organisations that hold your data.

We hold none. If you make a request, our honest answer will be that we have no records matching you, because none were ever created. You retain full control of the data on your own device and can erase all of it at any time by uninstalling the app.

Children

The app is suitable for all ages and collects no information from anyone, including children under 13. It contains no advertising, no in-app purchases, no user-generated content, and no links out to third-party services from within the reminder itself.

App stores

When you download the app, Google Play or the Apple App Store processes that transaction under its own privacy policy. We receive only the anonymous, aggregated statistics those platforms show every developer — such as total install counts by country. We cannot identify any individual user from them, and we cannot link them to anything you do inside the app.

This website

This site sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and embeds no third-party scripts or fonts loaded from external servers. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, including IP addresses, for a short period for security and operational purposes. We do not analyse those logs to build any profile of visitors.

The support page has a contact form. If you use it, the name, email address and message you type are sent to our own mail server and delivered to our inbox. We use them only to reply to you. They are not written to any database on this site, not added to a mailing list, and not shared with anyone. Your IP address is held briefly in memory to limit how many messages one connection can send, and is not stored. You are never obliged to use the form — you can email the same address directly instead.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and describe what changed. Because the app collects no data, any change is likely to be a clarification rather than a new use of information.
